Center-beam cars are specialty freight cars designed for carrying building supplies such as cut wood, lumber, or drywall sheets. The cars represented in this release are based on a series of modified bulkhead flat cars which were converted for lumber haulage by the addition of center posts, deck risers, and ratchet tie-downs.
